Firm Profile & Philosophy
The principals of Schnitz & Sewell, Ples E. Schnitz and Douglas G. Sewell, formed the partnership in 1993 from employees of Weeter, Kienast & Alexander and Financial Facilities Development. Prior to the formation of the partnership, these two former firms had associated on many successful projects over seven years. The partners bring a combined total of over 50 years of design experience to the partnership in banking, data processing, church, municipal, hospital and industrial/commercial projects.

Schnitz & Sewell's charter is to remain a small firm and to accept only those projects ranging in construction costs from $300,000 to $10,000,000 which will allow the principals to be directly involved in all phases of project development. We feel that if a client commissions Schnitz & Sewell to produce a design the principals should actually produce the work and interface directly with the client and contractors.

The firm is committed to strong strategic planning, programming and budget evaluation prior to design development in order to ensure project viability prior to the client incurring costly documentation fees. Additionally, we understand that the documents are not the final product, and that the client looks to us to ensure compliance with the documents during the construction phase. Schnitz & Sewell is extremely committed to this phase of project development and are available to the owner or contractor, on a timely basis, to resolve issues which might affect the cost, schedule or impact of the project. We also understand that a good working relationship with the contractor is essential to the ultimate success of the project, which in turn best serves the client.
